# Plans & billing

> What each plan includes, how the limits work, and how to upgrade, downgrade or cancel.

Every **paid** plan unlocks the *entire* product — unlimited link tracking, full revenue
attribution, and the complete affiliate and partner programme. Paid plans differ on exactly
two axes: **how many workspaces** you can run, and **how much commission** you can track per
month. Nothing else is gated behind a higher tier.

## Plans at a glance

| Plan        | Price / mo | Workspaces | Commission tracked / mo | Revenue attribution |
| ----------- | ---------- | ---------- | ----------------------- | ------------------- |
| **Free**    | \$0        | 1          | —                       | Hidden              |
| **Starter** | \$39       | 1          | Up to \$10K             | ✅                   |
| **Growth**  | \$99       | Unlimited  | Up to \$100K            | ✅                   |
| **Scale**   | \$199      | Unlimited  | Unlimited               | ✅                   |

<Note>
  **Annual billing is 25% off** — you pay for nine months and get twelve. Same entitlements
  as monthly; only the cadence and price change. Starter works out to roughly \$29.25/mo
  billed yearly.

## The Free tier

Free is a real, indefinite plan — not a trial. It's for trying link tracking before you
connect revenue.

| Limit                         | Free tier       |
| ----------------------------- | --------------- |
| Tracked events / month        | 1,000           |
| Links (running total)         | 50              |
| Workspaces                    | 1               |
| Attribution model             | Last-touch only |
| Revenue & attribution figures | Hidden          |

Tracked events reset every month on your workspace's signup anniversary. The link cap is a
running total, not monthly. Upgrading to any paid plan lifts all of these limits at once and
reveals revenue.

## Understanding "commission tracked"

The commission cap is the one limit that trips people up, so it's worth stating precisely.

<Info>
  **"Commission tracked" is the sum of commission *earnings* — a partner's cut — recorded in
  a calendar month. It is *not* the underlying sale revenue, which is always unlimited on
  every paid plan.**
</Info>

If a partner refers a $1,000 sale at a 20% commission rate, that records **$200\*\* of
commission against your monthly cap — not $1,000. On Starter you can track up to $10K of
partner commissions a month, which corresponds to a large volume of underlying sales. If you
reach the cap, new commissions pause accruing until you upgrade or the month rolls over;
your sales, links and attribution keep working normally.

<Tip>
  Not running an affiliate programme? The commission cap never applies to you — it only
  meters the affiliate ledger. Choose your plan on workspace count alone.
</Tip>

## Upgrade, downgrade or cancel

Billing is handled through **Paddle**, which acts as merchant of record (it collects tax and
issues invoices on TrackRev's behalf).

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open Billing">
    Go to **Settings → Billing** (or **Billing** in the sidebar).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Pick a plan and cadence">
    Choose Starter, Growth or Scale, and monthly or annual. Click **Subscribe** (or
    **Change plan**).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Complete checkout">
    A Paddle overlay opens for payment. When it finishes, your workspace is upgraded
    immediately — the new entitlements apply as soon as Paddle confirms.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Manage the subscription later">
    From **Billing**, open the customer portal to update your card, switch cadence, download
    invoices, or cancel. Cancelling keeps your plan active until the end of the paid period,
    then reverts the workspace to Free.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Frequently asked

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Do I need a separate plan per product?">
    No. There is one subscription per workspace and it unlocks all three products. You never
    buy link tracking, attribution and affiliates separately.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="What happens to my data if I downgrade to Free?">
    Your links keep redirecting and clicks keep being recorded, but revenue and attribution
    figures are hidden and the event/link caps re-apply. Nothing is deleted; upgrading again
    restores full visibility.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is there a free trial of paid features?">
    The Free tier lets you use link tracking indefinitely. To evaluate revenue attribution
    and affiliates, subscribe to a paid plan — you can cancel any time and keep access until
    the period ends.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Which plan should I pick?">
    Pick on two questions. Running more than one brand/product? You need **Growth** or above
    for unlimited workspaces. Tracking more than $10K of partner commissions a month? You
            need **Growth** ($100K) or **Scale** (unlimited). Otherwise **Starter** is the whole
    product for one workspace.
