# Channels

> The acquisition sources TrackRev rolls every click and sale up into — so you can rank what actually pays.

A **channel** is the acquisition source a link belongs to. Channels are how TrackRev turns
thousands of individual clicks and sales into one answer: *which source pays your MRR?* Every
link belongs to a channel, so clicks, conversions and revenue always roll up by channel with
no extra work.

## The built-in channels

Channels are a fixed, built-in set — you don't create or delete them. You "use" a channel by
ticking it when you [create a campaign](/link-tracking/create-links). Each maps to default UTM
parameters:

| Channel     | utm\_source | utm\_medium |
| ----------- | ----------- | ----------- |
| Facebook    | facebook    | social      |
| Instagram   | instagram   | social      |
| YouTube     | youtube     | video       |
| LinkedIn    | linkedin    | social      |
| X / Twitter | twitter     | social      |
| TikTok      | tiktok      | social      |
| Newsletter  | newsletter  | email       |
| Website     | website     | referral    |
| Other       | other       | referral    |

<Note>
  Partner (affiliate) referral links use a dedicated `affiliate` channel automatically —
  `utm_source=partner`, `utm_medium=affiliate` — so affiliate revenue is separated from your
  owned channels. See [Affiliate overview](/affiliate/overview).
</Note>

## The Channels dashboard

Open **Channels** in the sidebar (under *Insights*) to see performance rolled up by channel.
The header shows the active [attribution model](/revenue-attribution/attribution-models) and
range, e.g. *"Performance by channel · last 30 days · last touch attribution"*. Use the range
switcher for **7d / 30d / 90d**.

### Clicks over time

A daily line chart of clicks by channel (top six channels), so you can see momentum and spot
which sources are heating up.

### Performance table

| Revenue | Attributed revenue *(paid plans)* |
| Conv. rate  | Conversions ÷ visitors            |

### Lifetime value by channel

All-time revenue per channel, **including subscription renewals** — the truest measure of a
channel's worth. Columns: **Channel, Customers, Orders (incl. renewals), Lifetime revenue,
Avg LTV / customer**. See [Channels & LTV](/revenue-attribution/channels-and-ltv) for the full
breakdown.

<Info>
  Revenue and LTV figures are a paid-plan feature. On the Free tier the channel table still
  shows clicks, visitors and conversion counts; revenue columns are hidden.
