Link retargeting lets you fire your ad platforms’ pixels when someone clicks a TrackRev link, so you can build retargeting audiences even from links to sites you don’t control — a podcast page, a marketplace listing, a press article. Clicks pass through a brief pass-through screen that fires your pixels and continues straight on to the destination — no consent prompt, no barrier.

How it works

1

Configure your pixel IDs once

Go to Configuration → Integrations → 6 · Retargeting pixels and add the IDs for the ad platforms you use (see supported providers).
2

Enable retargeting on a link

When creating a campaign, expand + Add retargeting pixels and tick “Enable link retargeting for this campaign”.
3

Clicks pass straight through

A real human clicking the link sees a brief “Taking you to …” screen while your pixels fire in the background, then continues to the destination automatically. There’s no prompt and nothing to click.

Supported providers

You enter IDs only — TrackRev injects each platform’s official loader for you and validates the ID format, so no arbitrary markup ever reaches the interstitial.

Behaviour

  • Every real human clicking a retargeting-enabled link fires your pixels automatically — a quick spinner, then straight on to the destination. There’s no consent prompt to accept or decline.
  • Bots, link-preview crawlers and visitors with JavaScript disabled always pass straight through and never fire a pixel.
  • If you haven’t configured any pixel IDs, retargeting-enabled links simply pass through with nothing to fire.
Firing marketing pixels fires trackers on the visitor’s browser without asking. Depending on your audience’s location (e.g. the EU/UK under GDPR and ePrivacy), you may be responsible for obtaining consent elsewhere. Confirm the requirements for your jurisdiction with your legal team.
Retargeting is ideal for links you share to destinations you can’t add a pixel to. For your own site, the TrackRev pixel already tracks everything — retargeting just adds your ad platforms’ audiences on top.
